Dextroamphetamine
Dextroamphetamine belongs to the group of medicines called central nervous system (CNS) stimulants and sympathomimetic agent used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy (sleep disorder). It may be habit-forming. Misuse can cause addiction, serious heart problems, or death. It raises systolic and diastolic blood pressure, acts as a weak bronchodilator, and also acts as a respiratory stimulant. Dextroamphetamine works in the treatment of ADHD by increasing attention and decreasing restlessness in children and adults who are overactive, cannot concentrate for very long, easily distracted and impulsive. A dangerous drug interaction could occur.
Do not use dextroamphetamine if you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. Label The general mechanism of action of this drug has not been well established. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, and others. This medicine is used as part of a total treatment program that also includes social, educational, and psychological treatment. Newer evidence shows amphetamines may also alter the number of dopamine transporters in synaptic clefts. It is sometimes taken 2 or 3 times per day. Extended-release tablets is taken only once per day.

Your dose needs may change if you switch to a different brand, strength, or form of this medicine. Your doctor may decide not to treat you with this medication or change some of the other medicines you take. Avoid medication errors by using only the medicine your doctor prescribes. Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.
