Diclofenac Sodium is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat mild-to-moderate pain, and helps to relieve symptoms of arthritis. Your doctor will prescribe the lowest dose for the shortest time possible to treat your symptoms. Diclofenac is also used to treat acute migraine attacks, with or without aura, in adults. These drugs come in different oral forms and are used to treat different conditions. It will not prevent or lessen the number of migraine attacks. This medicine does not cure arthritis and will only help you as long as you continue to take it.
This medicine is also used to treat ankylosing spondylitis, which is a type of arthritis that affects the joints in the spine, and other painful conditions such as menstrual cramps. It’s important to note that the conditions diclofenac is approved to treat are progressive. When you are taking this medicine, it is especially important that your healthcare professional know if you are taking any of the medicines listed below. This means their symptoms generally worsen over time, especially without treatment.
Your doctor may decide not to treat you with this medication or change some of the other medicines you take. If you and your doctor determine that diclofenac is safe and effective for you, you might take it long term. Discuss with your healthcare professional the use of your medicine with food, alcohol, or tobacco. Diclofenac is typically prescribed as a long-term treatment. This medicine usually begins to work within one week, but in severe cases up to two weeks or longer may pass before you begin to feel better. You’ll take the medication for as long as it’s safe and effective in treating symptoms of your condition. This means their symptoms generally worsen over time, especially without treatment.
